Delegates and alternates selected at the 3rd, 4th & 6th LD district-level caucuses in April are expected attend this meeting of Democrats in the 5th Congressional District.
Delegates and alternates selected at county conventions in the 5th Congressional District on May 1 are also expected to attend this event.
Counties comprising the 5th CD include Asotin, Columbia, Ferry, Garfield, Lincoln, Spokane, Stevens, Pend Oreille, and a portion of Walla Walla.
Three women and two men will be selected at the 5th CD Caucus to represent the congressional district in Washington's delegation to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
In addition, delegates to the 5th CD Caucus will vote on an Elector and Alternate Elector to be part of the Washington Electoral College delegation in the event that the Democratic presidential nominee wins the popular vote in Washington in the November general election.
The 5th CD Caucus will be held at Logan Elementary School, 1001 E Montgomery Ave (located just east of Hamilton Street), Spokane WA 99207.
Directions: From I-90, take the Hamilton Street exit and travel north approximately 1.4 miles from the traffic light at Trent/Spokane Falls Blvd. At Montgomery (just north of Illinois Ave), turn east (right). The school will be on your left. From Division Street, take Montgomery Avenue east until it crosses Hamilton Street. The school will be on your left. Follow the caucus directional signage the day of the event.
The 5th CD Caucus will be gaveled to order at 1:00 pm.
Volunteers for the caucus are asked to arrive no later than 11:15 am.
Doors will open to all at 12:00 noon.
Registration of delegates and alternates will start at 12:00 noon.
Candidates for national delegate and/or Elector will have the opportunity to informally meet delegates and discuss their candidacy prior to the 1:00 pm start time for the caucus.
