Mini Version Update - Delegate Selection Process
March 24, 2020
In light of the cancellation of LD caucuses throughout the state, the executive committee of the State Party has determined (with DNC approval) that the delegate selection process will be modified from the original DSAAP (Delegate Selection and Affirmative Action Plan.)
Here's a "mini-version update" as to what the new process looks like. Further details will be posted once the State Party's website, waelectioncenter.com, is fully updated later this week.
- Elected and appointed Precinct Committee Officers in each legislative district will choose the delegates to the state convention/congressional district caucus.
- The 3rd LD has 24 delegates to select. Allocation of the 24 delegates between the presidential preferences has been determined based on the results of the presidential primary in the 3rd legislative district. The state party will advise of the allocation soon.
- All PCOs (regardless of their personal presidential candidate preference) will vote for all 24 delegate positions.
- The election will be done online, individually by each PCO (thus there is no requirement for a PCO meeting to accomplish the delegate selection process.)
- The State Party is currently updating the run-for-delegate website, waelectioncenter.com, to take into account the new rules. The website should be updated sometime this week, at which point more detailed information will be posted.
- No new PCOs may be appointed statewide from the date of the decision until the close of the selection process.
- Online voting will open up on Sunday, April 26 and will close as of a point in time on Sunday, May 3.
- Delegate candidate profiles will appear only online and delegate candidates who have already submitted profiles will be given the opportunity to modify their existing candidate profile in light of the new process.
- Technology assistance will be provided to delegate candidates as might be needed to complete an online delegate candidate profile.
