The 3rd LD Caucus Credentials Committee has voted unanimously to sustain challenges to the allocation of delegates in two precincts.
In Precinct 3102, the allocation of the four delegates on March 26 was 3 Sanders and 1 Clinton. Upon review of the Precinct 3102 Delegate Allocation Worksheet, the Credentials Committee determined that an inadvertent error had occurred. In Phase One of the allocation (where the calculations are rounded down), Sanders' 2.462 is rounded down to two delegates and Clinton's 1.538 is rounded down to one delegate. With one remaining delegate to be allocated from the precinct, the Phase Two part of the calculation involves looking to the right of the decimal point. Clinton's .538 is higher than Sanders' .462, so under Party rules the remaining delegate is allocated to Clinton. Thus, the precinct's allocation of delegates should have been 2 Sanders and 2 Clinton.
In Precinct 3324, the allocation of the seven delegates on March 26 was 7 Sanders and 0 Clinton. Upon review of the Precinct 3324 Delegate Allocation Worksheet, the Credentials Committee determined that an inadvertent error had occurred. In Phase One of the allocation (where the calculations are rounded down), Sanders' 6.485 is rounded down to six delegates and Clinton's 0.515 is rounded down to zero delegates. With one remaining delegate to be allocated from the precinct, the Phase Two part of the calculation involves looking to the right of the decimal point. Clinton's .515 is higher than Sanders' .485, so under Party rules the remaining delegate is allocated to Clinton. Thus, the precinct's allocation of delegates should have been 6 Sanders and 1 Clinton.
The Credentials Committee will present its findings as part of its preliminary report to the 3rd LD Caucus on Sunday, April 17.
The members of the Credentials Committee are Marcus Riccelli (Chair), Andy Billig (Co-Chair), and Kate Burke.
