Thinking About Running for Office in 2018?

If you're thinking about running for office in 2018, the first critical date is May 14, 2018 when "Filing Week" opens. That's the first day you can officially declare your candidacy by filing with the Spokane County Elections Office. Filing Week closes on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 4:00 pm.
On the August 7, 2018 Primary Ballot in the 3rd LD will be the following races:
- Elected Precinct Committee Officers will be chosen from each precinct (to take office in December 2018 for a two-year term). Elected PCOs choose local party leadership and elect representatives to the state party's central committee.
- Two state representatives from the 3rd LD for two-year terms. The incumbents are Marcus Riccelli and Timm Ormsby, both Democrats.
- County Commissioner (representing District 3) - a four-year term. Candidates for this position must reside in District 3.
- County Commissioner (representing District 2) - a unexpired two-year term to fill the vacancy created due to a resignation. Candidates for this office must reside in District 2.
- County Assessor - a four-year term.
- County Auditor - a four year term. The incumbent is Vicky Dalton, a Democrat.
- County Clerk - a four year term.
- County Prosecuting Attorney - a four-year term.
- County Sheriff - a four-year term.
- County Treasurer - a four-year term.
- A number of judges/justices (county district court as well as Washington Supreme Court) will be on the ballot.
- Representative, United States Congress - a two year term. There are multiple Democrats who have announced their candidacy for this federal office.
