3rd LD to Select Delegates to State Party Convention

February 1, 2022

On March 26, 2022 at 10:00 am, 3rd LD precinct committee officers will elect delegates and alternates to represent the legislative district at the 2022 Washington State Democratic Convention, to be held in Tacoma, Washington on June 25, 2022. The delegate selection meeting is a virtual meeting, to be held on Zoom and broadcast to the YouTube channel for the 3rd LD.

It is possible for delegates to attend the state convention in Tacoma virtually (for any reason) if they choose to do so no later than April 1, 2022. In-person delegates must be fully vaccinated (and boosted, if eligible).

The 3rd Legislative District will be electing 21 delegates and 11 alternates to represent the legislative district at the convention. Delegates and alternates must reside in the 3rd Legislative District (using the newly-redistricted boundaries).

Candidates for delegate/alternate must self-identify as Democrats and individuals not eligible to vote in Washington state due to citizenship status or age are eligible to run for a delegate position (e.g., DACA/Dreamers and individuals who have not attained age 18).

Meeting affirmative action goals as a delegation will increase the number of delegates representing the 3rd Legislative District, with the AA goals including the following attributes:

Individuals residing in the boundaries of the post-redistricting 3rd Legislative District may self-nominate to run for delegate by completing a Google Form. Because redistricting has impacted many legislative district assignments in Spokane County, please visit the Event Page for the delegate selection process in Spokane County to identify your current precinct, and then use your precinct number to look up your 2022 legislative district assignment before completing your delegate candidacy paperwork in the Google Form.

In addition to the elected delegates/alternates, the 3rd Legislative District will be represented by automatic delegates such as (a) members of the state legislature residing in the LD and (b) local party organization officers (both LD and county) residing in the LD.
